Our History

  •  Original organization and board

  • Started off strong with both member sign-up and board energy

2004

  • Organization re-created and incorporated as Intervalley Water Inc.

  • New Board of Directors led by Ian Findlay

  • Thousands of volunteer man hours

  • Door to door canvassing for members

  • Member sign-ups, engineering estimates and budgeting

2006

  • Continued Canvassing and collection of deposits ($500.00)

  • Application for government grants - $ 0.00 Received

  • Continued budgeting, final estimation of individual standard household curbstop price of $ 13,800.00

  • Permit To Construct received from the Ministry of the Environment 16th June, 2007 to serve approximately 265 customers

  • Engineering design and tendering of construction for main lines in process

2007

  • Main lines buried

  • Subscriber invoices sent out as curbstops were installed.

  • Permit to Construct 3 Pump houses 28 Oct 2008

  • Ron Lafreniere hired for both office and pump house related duties

2008

  • Permit to Operate a Waterworks 5 Jan, 2009

  • Water flowing to subscribers

2009

  • March AGM

  • Financial Statement reported no issues

  • June - special Meeting Called

  • Cash Call approx. $900,000 ($ 3,000 per curbstop)

  • Pump houses way over budget

  • IWI waiting on “Equivalent to RM” status to obtain GST refund

  • Board members were meeting weekly to manage operations

2010

  • Board change in focus from start up to operational

  • Need to simply “get our house in order”

  • # 1 Goal – A “Cash Call” should never happen again

  • Increase in monthly service fees and water rates

  • Focus on past due collections
